Growing Health

Our action item for Better Health with Yellow Tractor is the launch of our Nutrition Garden Workshops. Yellow Tractor is a social enterprise designed to educate and empower participants by growing their own food. Yellow Tractor advocates for sustainable growth by building vegetable and fruit gardens; clearing a path for food security, providing opportunities for healthier life skills, and creating a safe place for children and adults to grow not only food, but themselves. We offer workshops, education materials, and garden beds.

Nutritious Vegetable Gardening Workshops Launch Spring 2012

Our workshops are designed to assist the novice and beginning vegetable/fruit gardener with a proven and successful model to build and maintain his or her own garden system. Whether you desire an edible garden in a parking lot, backyard, office, hospital, food bank, school, church, or community space, we can help you grow your way to improved health with your own fresh food source. The Yellow Tractor nutrition gardening workshops are perfect for directors of corporate wellness, employee programming, sustainability and CSR. These train-the-trainer model workshops allow participants to take the knowledge, skills and programming potential back to their company to incorporate garden programs internally, externally, as heath coverage options or sales incentives. Together, we will develop your garden for planting, talk about the seeds and plants you would like to grow, examine soils, harvest output guidelines, trellises, watering and weeding. Topics will include hoop housing (for extended growing), composting (for improved soil), rainwater collection, ongoing resources and closing up your garden at season's end.

For participants representing schools and other multi-user garden spaces, we can provide one-on-one consulting on topics such as generating community engagement, sponsorship, funding models and utilizing the garden as a learning space. Workshop participants will take home their own Yellow Tractor garden bed (a 4 x 8, easy-to-assemble, high-end cedar bed), educational materials, and enjoy a delicious lunch. We reserve the right to reschedule a workshop, in the event a minimum number of participants is not reached. Discount hotel accommodations available.

Please register with eric@yellowtractorprogram.com and please include which workshop you will attend, your name, address, phone, email, and number of participants. Payment can be made on WORKSHOPS button at: http://www.yellowtractorprogram.org/store/.
